The late afternoon sun filtered through the floor-to-ceiling windows of their cozy Manhattan apartment, casting a warm glow across the hardwood floors. Yelena sat cross-legged on their plush leather couch, her blonde hair pulled back in a messy bun, eyes fixed intently on her phone screen. The voices of the Avengers echoed from the device as they discussed their next mission on speaker phone.
Kate lounged restlessly in an oversized armchair nearby, her leg bouncing with pent-up energy. She'd been waiting for what felt like hours for this call to end, eager to spend some quality time with her girlfriend.
